Spring Break

by Kristina Torres

Oh spring breaks, I have some mixed emotions about you.  Though I get to spend more time with my kids, it means more times that they are under foot when I need to get things done.  We may get to get out and do more things, but  I also get to do more cleaning from the little mess trails they leave behind themselves.

All while the teenager sleep or stay in their rooms for hours after I wake them, the 6-year-old if full of endless energy.  If I could only just syphon a little bit from her, I'd be set.  I can say I'm extremely lucky that the older 2 are so much older.  They can take the youngest to the park while I attempt to clean up after my distructo child.  Though my kids can drive me up the wall at times, I'm lucky they are the kids they are.

I'm in total shock as a parent, and reality is kicking my butt.  My 17-year-old will be graduating high school in 2 months and 1 day.  He is my savior through so many things.  His heart is huge and is help is greatly appreciated.  I'm hoping he sticks around until he's at least 18, which is a whole 11 months away.  I'm not ready for and babies to leave this cuckoo's nest.
